This Privacy Policy describes how LateCheckOut ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares personal information through our apps, websites, and services.
We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy and act as its controller where that concept applies under privacy law.
Information We Collect
- Account information — your name, email address, login credentials, information from sign-in providers, and session information.
- Content and activity — profile information, photos, maps, recommendations, Place Likes, followed accounts, and other content or interactions with the Service.
- Purchase information — information associated with orders and payments. Payment card details are collected directly by payment providers.
- Communications and business information — contact details and messages submitted through forms or Support, reports, and information provided when claiming or managing a business presence.
- Technical information — IP address, browser and device information, usage, diagnostics, and logs.
- Geographic information — places, cities, searches, and map areas you select or share through the Service.
We receive information from you, through your use of the Service, and from providers such as sign-in services and public or licensed place-information sources.
How We Use Information
We use information to provide the Service, manage accounts, display content, personalize discovery, handle purchases and support requests, communicate with you, understand and improve how the Service is used, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.
For example, we use your recommendations, likes, and activity to personalize the places and content you see. We use contact details to answer requests and send necessary service communications.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on:
- Our contract with you, to provide requested account, content, purchase, and support services;
- Legitimate interests, such as securing the Service, preventing abuse, understanding usage, and improving discovery, balanced against your rights;
- Legal obligations, such as required financial records and lawful requests; and
- Consent, where required for particular communications or technologies.
Public Information
Your profile and creator content, including maps, recommendations, and trips, are public. Other people may view and share this information, and search engines may index it. Consider what you include before submitting public content.
We may use, adapt, license, and distribute public content in connection with our products and services, including business offerings, advertising, promotion, and distribution partnerships, as described in our Terms of Service. This may include the public name, username, or business branding associated with the content. Public content can still contain personal information and remains subject to applicable privacy rights.
Sharing
We share information for the purposes described in this policy with:
- Service providers that help us operate, including hosting, storage, authentication, email, payments, analytics, diagnostics, maps, security, and support providers;
- Other users, distribution partners, and the public, for public profiles and content as described above;
- Authorities and other parties, where required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety, or the Service; and
- Parties to a business transaction, such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law.
Third-party websites and services you choose to use may handle information under their own privacy policies.
Cookies And Similar Technologies
We use cookies, local storage, SDKs, and similar technologies for sign-in, security, preferences, support, and usage measurement. Some analytics operate without cookies.
Browser and device settings provide controls over certain technologies and permissions. Disabling them may affect how the Service works. Contact us if you need help understanding your available choices.
Your Choices And Rights
You can update your profile and request account deletion through supported account settings. You can also contact us about your information.
Providing optional information is your choice. We may be unable to provide a requested feature if you do not supply information it needs. You can ask us to stop optional promotional communications; necessary account, security, and purchase messages may still be sent.
Depending on the laws that apply to you, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a portable copy of your information; restrict processing; withdraw consent; or complain to a data protection authority.
You may also have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to object to the use of your information for direct marketing.
Use Support to exercise these rights. We may need to verify your identity or an authorized representative's authority before responding. We respond within applicable legal time limits. Where required by law, you may appeal a refusal through the same contact route. We do not penalize you for exercising your privacy rights. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
Account deletion ends access to your account. It does not automatically require removal of every public contribution or copy already distributed. We may retain and continue using public contributions under our content license where permitted by law, including without attribution to your closed account. We delete or anonymize personal information where required by applicable law. You can request removal of particular content or personal information through Support.
A business account may remain where other authorized owners or members continue to use it. Contact us about business-account requests.
Retention And Security
We retain personal information for the purposes described in this policy, taking into account the nature of the information, our relationship with you, service needs, legal obligations, disputes, and security requirements. Account deletion does not require deletion of records we are entitled or required to keep, such as transaction, fraud-prevention, legal, and backup records. Retaining these records does not make them public.
Public contributions may remain available and licensed uses may continue after account deletion where lawful. Removing content from view does not necessarily erase retained or previously distributed copies. We may also retain aggregated or anonymized information that can no longer reasonably be linked to you. Removing an account name alone does not necessarily make content anonymous, and our content license does not override applicable personal-information deletion requirements. Copies saved or shared independently by other people may remain outside our control.
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information. No system is perfectly secure.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 or any higher minimum age required where they live. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below that age. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information in violation of this policy so we can investigate and take appropriate action, including deletion where required.
International Processing
Your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. Those countries may have different data protection laws. Contact us for information about relevant processing locations and international-transfer arrangements.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date above shows the latest change. We will provide notice of material changes where required by law.
